Round Mountain – Loveland CO
April 25 @ 3:00 pm - 7:30 pm MDT
CATS first time here in an exclusive work project in the Big Thompson Canyon and across the road from Viestenz- Smith Mtn Park – see location below.
NOTE: DON’T RELY ON GOOGLE MAPS FROM THIS SITE…GOOGLE YOUR OWN MAPS BASED ON THE WRITTEN DIRECTIONS PLEASE.
Round Mountain Trail is in the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest; the trailhead parking area is located in the Big Thompson Canyon, approximately 4 miles west of the Dam Store on Highway 34 (approximately 12 miles west of Loveland). The trailhead is located just southwest on Colorado State Highway 34 (across from the entrance of the Viestenz-Smith Mountain Park). http://www.visitloveland.org/trails/round-mountain-national-recreation-trail
The mountainous trail needs some maintenance which at this writing – I have not seen but the authorities cite that we (CATS) can do it! Of course we can. This is an exciting whack as Loveland has only one mountain trail and property to speak of and this is it. We will be real close to home – yet working in wilderness setting. Several new eating opportunities are available to us after the work too. We will be parking at the lot on the left side with the van, and other members should park at VS Mtn park directly across the road. Carpooling is suggested if you can. Those coming in at different times will have to follow our new sandwich boards to the worksite. Not sure about cell reception yet. So sign up after reading this – why wait?
